According to the Smoking Gun website, Penguin Books is suing several writers for the return of large advances due to the writers not delivering manuscripts per their contracts. Long story short, they didn’t get what they paid for, so they want a refund.
Remember, gang, that publishing is a business. As writers, we have to fulfill our obligations to get paid. While I too dream of large advances, I would make darn sure I can deliver before I sign on the dotted line.
